The capital of Lake Finland offers experiences to its tourists all year round. In the summer, when everything blooms, numerous parks, water areas and nature surround the heart of the city with their beauty. One of the best ways to get around Kuopio is the Vilkku-Fillari rental bicycle. The shared bicycles are electrically assisted, so exploring the city is effortless and you can stop to enjoy the summer day wherever you want. The Kuopio National City Park itself, which covers a large part of the center of Kuopio, is worth experiencing, but we listed a couple of specific tips for those traveling in Kuopio. Kuopio Passenger Port The port of Kuopio is full of life, especially in summer. Summer restaurants and cruises around Lake Kallavesi ensure that there is enough hustle and bustle in the harbor every summer day. The wood architecture of the late 19th century and the rustic 1930s and 1940s style of the warehouse buildings make the passenger port an experience for visitors of all ages. The passenger port has recently been expanded to include sun loungers and outdoor equipment, as well as plenty of new berths. You can cycle to the modern outdoor area to enjoy the scenery of Kallavesi or spend some time at a playground or the barbecue and picnic area. Puijo Tourists are sure to know Puijo from Puijo Tower, but Puijo is somuch more. The magical nature of Puijo invites you to enjoy the fresh air and lush forest. Walking and cycling in Puijo's terrain is a nature experience not to be missed. Puijo also offers a wide variety of organized experiences and activities. The restaurants cater to people visiting Puijo all year round and there is something to do every season. Bellanranta The Bellanranta area brings together exercisers and experience seekers whether you are traveling alone, in pairs, with family or with a group. Among Bellanranta's offers to tourism, Bella Park and Kuopio Saana stand out. In Bella Park, you can play city golf or padel, and in Saana Kuopio you can enjoy excellent food on the spacious terrace or, alternatively, pamper yourself in Saana's sauna and spa. In addition to the activities mentioned above, Bellanranta has a large number of other opportunities to enjoy summer days whatever the weather. You can easily reach Bellanranta in Siikaranta area by car, local bus or Vilkku city bicycle. Kuopio Market Square Kuopio Market Square, also known as the Mualima Napa (Center of the world), is a lively destination in the center of Kuopio. One of Finland's busiest markets still cherishes more than a hundred-year-old market traditions and offers both locals and tourists a place to shop, enjoy the market atmosphere and exchange ideas with good food and drink. Kuopio Market Square has been located in the same place since 1818. In the 1880s Kuopio City Hall was built next to the market square, and in 1902 the Kuopio Market Hall was built on the other side. History is wonderfully present in the middle of the modern city and this is something everyone should experience for themselves. Kantti Connecting the Kuopio Main Library and the Kuopio Museum, Kantti offers a door to joy, learning new things, wondering and ideas. The brand new Kantti is a must-see destination for tourists who enjoy knowledge and learning experiences. In addition to quenching their thirst for knowledge, visitors can fill their stomachs with the actual food and drink, as Café Kantti with its terrace also serves in the same premises. The café also serves a tasty salad lunch in addition to the normal café menu. Read more about Kuopio and its surroundings on the Kuopio-Tahko website.
