Press release June 9thOnniBus has taken up the idea of Minister of Transport and Communications Timo Harakka. On Monday, Mr Harakka held an event for industry representatives on public health safety. OnniBus will from June 11the start to offer the option to buy an adjoining seat for 50% of the ticket price. - There is a requirement for industry that every other seat should be left blank. It would double the price of tickets and, for example, in the event that people living in the same household wanted to travel side by side, a double price would be unnecessarily paid. It is fairer that everyone can influence their travel costs and safety intervals flexibly themselves, Lauri Helke, CEO of OnniBus.com, says. To book the extra seat customer needs to use the code TURVA on the webshop and select 2 passengers. Customer can then select the adjoining seats from the seatmap if there are still available seats. This way the booking system will grant permission for one person to board the bus and to have the other seat empty. OnniBus.com hopes that other public transport companies will follow minister's idea to offer empty seat for discounted price so that consumer trust for public transportation is redeemed.
