Messilä's strengths are location and suitability for all skiers. Messilä is located in Hollola, an hour’s drive from the Helsinki metropolitan area. Messilä is one of the largest ski resorts in Southern Finland and a popular destination not only on weekends but also on weekday evenings. The center is located in Salpausselkä and is surrounded by beautiful wooded ridges and Lake Vesijärvi. There are a total of ten slopes in Messilä, the longest of which is 800 meters long. There are nine ski lifts with a total capacity of as much as 9,830 people per hour. Messilä For the Whole Family The slopes of Messilä offer a delightful combination of activities for skiers of all levels. Two blue, two green and seven red hills guarantee fun in the traditional style, Ministreet encourages the family’s little speeders to try new tricks, and more daring skiers can hone their skills on the black slopes and railings. Fun for the Children in Pikkukylä To the delight of children, there is a specially designed children's area Pikkukylä, where you can take a spin in a snow carousel, ski down small mounds and tracks and, for example, eat snacks by the campfire. You can get to the area with lift tickets, but you can buy your own regional ticket for sledding in Pikkukylä. Children under the age of 6 can go to every slope of the center and to Pikkukylä free of charge with their parents. The Pikkukylä area is divided into two different parts: one side is suitable for downhill skiing and snowboarding, the other is for sledding. On the ski slope you can go down three different types of hills: slalom, mogul or a traditional flat. The snow carousel in the area offers even more fun and can can be ridden on skis, snowboards or with a sled. Lots of Activities in a Charming Setting The Yellow Manor Restaurant serves as a landmark and the old buildings in its courtyard have been restored for the use of the center. The center hosts a ski school, four different restaurants and a ski rental store with good equipment maintenance facilities. Several accommodation options are available, including log cabins with their own saunas. Other activities range from cross-country skiing to ATV and snowmobile safaris. Messilä also hosts many winter events. Transport connections to Messilä are good from all directions. The journey to Messilä is 111 kilometers from Helsinki and only eight from Lahti. On winter Saturdays, you can get on a Skiexpress bus from the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. Note that Skiexpress bus is not OnniBus-service.
