The Hetta area has been inhabited since the Stone Age, and although today tourism is an important means of livelihood, reindeer husbandry and natural activities also hold their ground. On the ice of Ounasjärvi you can find the multipurpose outdoor track Aurinkokeino, where all outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy themselves in peaceful harmony. You can ski, cross-country ski and snowshoe in the Hetta ski area. In addition to outdoor activities, you should also visit the Tunturi-Lappi Nature Center in Hetta, where you can explore an interesting exhibition about the nomadic Sami culture and buy local handicrafts.
