Helsinki - Heinola

Cheap and environmentally friendly choice for travel

Heinola offers a lot to experience! Visitors are attracted to a wide range of activities and sights to see.

Heinola City Museum showcases the everyday life in the city in the past and the art museum houses the permanent Spranger Collection of 18th–20th century porcelain, and the library of Minister P. J. Hynninen's Art Foundation. The old-timey museum buildings themselves are already a sight to see on their own, just like the old vicarage building in the city center.

Visitors get close to fascinating nature even within the limits of the city center, as Heinola is one of the eight Finnish cities to have been granted the Ministry of the Environment's National Urban Park designation. This urban area hosts both beautifully designed and maintained gardens and plants in their natural state. All around Heinola people are close to different forests, lakes and rivers, both physically and figuratively. The Bird Sanctuary and the many summer cottages in the area go to show how much the people of Heinola value nature.
