Cheap and environmentally friendly choice for travel

The Sun Shines on Naantali

- Relaxed action and sunshine in stunning scenery.

- Moominworld brings familiar fairy tale characters to the little ones in the family.

- The old town enchants anyone interested in history.

Moominworld, spa, old town... Naantali has several attractions for travellers of all ages. On the other hand, this holiday in Finland does not require any precise plan, as walking along the magnificent seaside of Naantali is already a relaxing pastime.

Especially in the summertime, Naantali shows its best in the same way as many other Northern pearls. The small boutiques and beach terraces of the old town are filled with tourists and free-tuned locals alike. You can sense the atmosphere where the phrase 'smiles like the Sun of Naantali' comes from. The unique laid-back lifestyle and positivity of the townspeople are contagious. Who knows, maybe the sun really shines a bit brighter on Naantali!

HOLIDAY TRIP TO NAANTALI – MOOMINS AND RELAXATION

The prime summer-time destination for all families with children and for animation fans is Moominworld, located on its own separate island of Kailo. Despite its separate location, Moominworld, like everything else in Naantali, is within walking distance. The OnniBus.com summer season stop is only about a mile (1.5 km) walk from Kailo Island. All the essential characters from the world created by Tove Jansson are waiting for Moomin-minded travellers, from the contemplative Moominpappa to the impish Stinky.

After starting the day with moomins, it's a good time to relax in one of the nearby restaurants or small cafés. There is plenty to choose from in a small area, from a simple little snack to fine dining options for a more demanding taste. If it’s not quite the time for a meal, just having a cup of coffee in the seaside scenery is pretty much as Naantalisque as you can get. For those interested in boats and shipping, simply admiring the lovely port area and all its vessels is a cosy activity.

OLD TOWN, NAANTALI’S HISTORIC LANDMARK

Holiday in Naantali is unimaginable without a visit to the old town. The relatively small area includes several atmospheric alleys, boutiques selling designer products, cafés and galleries. Cobblestone streets, wooden houses and narrow alleys add an authentic old-fashioned atmosphere to the area. Each house has its own name and role in the nearly 600-year history of the town. As far as protection of the old architecture is concerned, people of Naantali have the bragging rights towards the neighbouring city of Turku. Naantali has honored its old construction expertise in a much more consistent manner than the municipal authorities over in Turku.

Although Naantali is primarily perceived as a summer town, the city also has a lot to offer during other seasons. In cold winters, head to the sea ice with your skis or skates to enjoy a discreetly efficient exercise in the magnificent archipelago scenery. At the end of a breezing winter day, you can enjoy a good sauna session in the versatile sauna area of Naantali Spa. Also known as a venue for live music, the spa and conference hotel regularly brings top Finnish artists to entertain visitors.
